Donnafugata is a castle, or rather, a farmhouse that has become a castle. It's a park, an immense historic garden that still enchants. And finally, it's Mu.De.Co., the history of costume, of the people who lived through those centuries.
The scent of the earth, the silhouette of carob trees on the horizon, the glimmer of chandeliers, the carriages, the promenades, the jet and crinolines of centuries of fashion: everything feels authentic. The combined ticket includes a visit to the entire complex (Castle, Park, and Mudeco), but you can decide what to visit based on the different types of tickets available: combined, combined, and park only.
Here's what the all-in ticket (€10.00) includes:
- First, the castle, a main floor still furnished and inhabited until 1982, the year in which the last descendant sold it to the Municipality of Ragusa. The tour will lead you through the various rooms, accompanied by panels that will immerse you in the family's history and reveal interesting trivia and anecdotes.
- The park is not to be missed, an immense historic garden that still enchants with the stories evoked by its avenues, paths, and fabriques hidden among the tranquil branches of centuries-old trees. You can simply stroll, lulled by the wonders of the romantic garden, or proceed along the initiatory path of enlightenment and knowledge, savoring the still perceptible Masonic nuances.
- The Mu.De.Co. - Costume Museum, the latest addition but no less important, offers a dive into the history of costume, of all the characters who lived and wore it over the centuries. It is a virtuous example of museum design and museum exhibits working hand in hand, achieving an important and particularly successful result.
