We are often willing to stand in very long lines just to visit the Uffizi, the Vatican Museums, the Louvre. Yet, we have art museums that we often don't even notice. We are full of it. We are surrounded.
What are these many museums? They are the thousand churches that our predecessors left us as a legacy. Places that have commissioned and preserved works of art by artists large and small, local and foreign, of all eras and different styles for centuries. An encyclopedia of iconographic imagery that deserves more attention.
And this is precisely what we will try to do thanks to the help of Don Peppino Antoci, passionate and expert in sacred art, on 22 December in a walk that will help us make sense of what we have probably already seen many times: the meaning it's Christmas, the value is art.
We are waiting for you! Free entry, appointment at the Ecce Homo church in Ragusa - at 7.00 pm. The walk, passing by the Cathedral of S. Giovanni and the church of the Badia, will end at the church of S. Maria delle Scale.
