Donnafugata Castle has a rich history, built on many legends.
The history of the men of the family, Baron Corrado Arezzo and Viscount Gaetano Combes de Lestrade.

The legends of fleeing women (le donne fugate, in Italian) whose stories, at different times and for various reasons, intersect with the castle: Bianca di Navarra, at the turn of the 15th century, fleeing from the attentions of the Count of Modica; Clementina Arezzo, granddaughter of Corrado, fleeing for Malta.

These stories, and many others, are recounted in the elegant rooms of the main house and along the leafy, shady footpaths of the huge gardens, where you have to take the time to lose yourself in the stone maze.

The Castle is also accessible by bus (Etna TrasportiExternal link) and train (Trenitalia.comExternal link).

Closed on Monday.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 09.00 to 19.00
