Tony Barbagallo was born in Bologna in 1936 and moved to Vittoria in 1948, he dedicated his life to photography. Friend of Giuseppe Leone, he began shooting in 1955, soon becoming a reference figure in the Sicilian photographic panorama. Internationally he was recognized as an Artist of the Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique (A.F.I.A.P.) since the 1970s. Barbagallo has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, collecting prestigious awards.
As a photojournalist for the newspaper "La Sicilia" and collaborator of numerous other national and international newspapers, his work has documented the history, culture and daily life of eastern Sicily, in particular of the hyblean area, capturing its soul in "black and white" images. His photographs have been used in numerous publications, including tourist guides and yearbooks dedicated to the city of Vittoria which, thanks to his work, has become a point of reference for photography enthusiasts and those who wish to know its history. Barbagallo is considered the heir of the great photographers of the past of Vittoria and ranks alongside leading figures such as Enzo Sellerio, Letizia Battaglia.
